Rats! I personally would love for the government to send people and equipment to all of the fires, all of the time. I understand the point of view for some areas being unsafe for firefighters but our world needs those trees whether the fire is threatening homes or not!!! I know my opinion has nothing to do with the higher ups as noone has or will ask it….sigh….
I remember when I was younger I helped with fires a couple times in my life. The first time I had been in a car accident and could not lift the heavy ceramic plates that my waitress job required and my boss was not understanding. Needless to say I got a different job as a cooks help at a large fire camp somewhat near where I lived. Lucky for me my mom was the head cook and assigned me tasks that I could do with my sore hand. It felt good to be helping the workers. There were 150 firefighters and some equipment…It a huge fire and eventually after a month or so….they got it under control and then out so we were not needed anymore. It seems crazy that it took that long but there was obviously alot of mop up etc for it all….
The next time that I was involved helping on fires was as a hose worker…we were doing spot clean-up after a fire and were needed to check on any hotspots. That was also super interesting dragging a hose all over the sides of a mountain! Funny most jobs are inside nowadays but that one has fond memories for me as I do love being outside!! Even dragging a hose, lol!!
Seriously who would not enjoy hanging out, listening to music and walking around spraying things down!!?? Anyway I hope these nearby fires will calm down soon so we can keep at least some of our forests! Let us all hope so!!
Hope to see us all out on the trails! Cheers, Y’all!!
