We waited all winter for a nice month like this and it just zipped by, what the h.e.double hockey sticks? I don’t know about you but it seemed that way for me. Just sayin! I do have a great memory to keep though…just the other day my hubby and I went down to Dutch Lake and took our kayaks…It had been a bit chilly in the mornings before that for me…feeling it in my knees lol…Anyway, we unloaded and got on the water…I really enjoy my new kayak…I previously used a blow up one, which was awesome but wanted one more solid….we took the route nearest the beach first and continued that way around…what a great way to feel the peace of this gorgeous area! In spite of the highway noise it felt peaceful….along the way we knew to watch out for..that being any wildlife or cool stuff of course!! We have done this a time or two so I knew it was getting close to mating season for the turtles and we may be lucky and see one or two!!
Welll….we sure did!! More than that! We kept our eyes peeled and soon we saw two on a log near the edge….then we slowed even more….a short moment later we saw three more!! Yay!….We did only some quiet chatting about them and kept going along the far shore where the sun was and continued along our merry way….We saw a total of 46!!! Holy cow it was so fun…with the kayaks we just paddled a time or two and rested as quietly as possible so we would not disturb them as it was their home….So cool…I will be writing a turtle story now about this cute little guy we saw off by himself. One spot had ten or so on a long log…whew…..Anyway just wanted to share with you all to try and get some of you out there to have such an enjoyable time if you get the chance..If you don’t have a boat or kayak, I hope you try to rent some..So worth the time….I may post about a few other local lakes as well and describe the experiences also…hope you get out and enjoy…I sure did!!
