Wow what a crazy last weekend of February! Holy H. E. double Hockey sticks! This reminds me of when I was younger and living in Revelstoke! I remember a snowfall similar to this but it happened with the same amount on two or three nights in a row and it was Monday morning and time to get to work. Ugh…I did not have a driver’s license at the time and always walked to work. My mom was going to give me a ride and her car would not go through that much snow as she knew she would get high-centered almost as soon she left her driveway. Her landlord had done most of the close neighborhood but… when she got to the end of the road and saw what the other roads looked like she knew it was a no-go. Once she got back home she set out to meet me and we decided to walk together as neither of our bosses figured it would be enough snow to close…..They were both new from out of town. They had no idea….. We had lived in town for five or six years already and knew how bad it would be…it was not that people could not drive or whatever…Most people had 4×4 vehicles at the time…but it would take all of the energy to shovel…not as many had snowblowers back then… and it would be a day when you only went out for necessities….We both worked in different restaurants about a block apart. Not like you were gonna go uptown for lunch lol. Anyway, on the way we saw a few funny incidents…The first was a little small car trying to get along the street and it was totally too short to make the drive…the guy shovelled in front of the car and backed up a little and tried to make a run at it…again and again….haha the car only pushed so much snow in front of it and then stopped…we watched his progress as we trudged our way along….He eventually backed up into his own driveway and gave up after three tries..that we saw……sheesh…Then a few blocks later we came upon a big ol’ dump truck that was removing snow from the roads since it was too deep to plow along normally. Guess what…you got it! He was stuck and had a shovel out …the guy with the plow was out helping him….I wish I had a picture of that….We chuckled all the way to work. Our bosses both showed up a couple hours later after finally getting out of their own driveways and sent us both home…They were shaking their heads about the lack of business…..hmmm lol. I guess there is sorta a moral of the story…on a day like this one…a foot of snow-ish…or more just do what you have to do….If you do not have to drive…don’t …if it is not absolutely necessary to go out DON’T! Pretty sure a day inside or playing in the yard as the case may be is a worthy way to spend your time!!! Cheers! Gonna go catch a few snowflakes!
